How many times have we heard to watch out for our fellow humans, but how many times do we actually do it? And no, while watching out to not walk into someone is important, that’s not quite what I mean for this post. Go out of your way to watch out for others in other impactful ways. If you see your neighbor struggling with a bunch of heavy boxes or bags, run up and offer to help or even grab their door for them. If you see something that doesn’t seem right at your neighbor’s house, send them a text and double check it. You won’t bother someone by helping them when they need it nor will it ever be a bad thing to go out of your way to watch out for others. We’re all in this together.
Whether you are at church or in your neighborhood, go welcome a stranger or someone you’ve never been introduced to formally. This is a great way to meet new people, especially those new to the area or just those you haven’t made time to speak with before.
This can applied to those who were furloughed, an elderly neighbor, a young single mother, it doesn’t matter, just help a neighbor out. Whether it’s mowing their yard for them or dropping by a basket of muffins, help one of your neighbors.
Tis the season for giving! Whether you are getting a Starbucks for the morning or you just want to help your neighbor out with a small task, start a pay it forward movement, and let that Christmas cheer spread.
