Let’s Talk Makeup….

Hello again everyone! So I know this is a fashion blog, but a major part of fashion is makeup. Fashion is how you represent yourself to the world, and a part of that is the makeup you wear to complement your outfit. It is also a great way to express how you are feeling on the inside.
I recently helped one of my sorority sisters find a good look for her skin tone with some makeup tips. We also went over some of the best ways to apply different makeup and what was best for her personally, not just what I thought was best. She even wound up sharing some tips with me that I was unaware of, and it was a great bonding session in addition to makeup session. So from that, I would like to share one of my makeup inspirations to you. Jessica Harlow has a vlog (video blog) on YouTube that has great makeup and hair tips. I personally love watching the videos, and sometimes I already knew how to apply the makeup, and other times I learn something new.
The video I am attaching is a great one for those special occasions coming up. I know for me personally, Semi-Formal is right around the corner, and for those of you in high school, there’s Homecoming dances or Prom. So a video on how to get all glammed up is a great starter. Also, with the holidays coming up, this would be perfect for some of those holiday get-togethers with family and friends. So the video I am attaching is Jessica showing us how to get “red carpet ready” for our upcoming festivities.
I hope you all enjoy this video, and I hope it helps you find the perfect “red carpet” look for yourself!

Hello everyone! Welcome to Rachel’s Closet! What I will do from now on is post some pictures, or maybe a link, along with a discussion of a trend or style that I see out in the fashion world. I have been interested in fashion since I was a young girl, and I think fashion is one of the greatest ways that we express ourselves and who we want to be that day. A great quote I found on Pinterest describes this perfectly: “When a woman says ‘I have nothing to wear!’ what she really means is ‘There’s nothing here for who I’m supposed to be today.’- Caitlin Moran. This is exactly how I feel; some days, I want to be standing out, I want everyone’s eyes to be on me and what I am wearing because that’s who I am that day. I am an eye-catching girl. Other days, I am content to be more low-key, perhaps more studious, so I will dress differently and people will see me differently. Fashion is so much more than clothing, it is a part of a person, and it is a way to show people, without them ever saying a word to you, who you are. While styles may fade, fashion is a constant, and it is constantly there to help us communicate who we are as a person to others who don’t know.
