With Pinterest, it is easier than ever to learn to make your own specialty coffee or tea drink. There are also tons of different ready to use mixes available, so you don’t have to keep shelling out $5 per cup for a peppermint mocha.
There are so many ways to help others, and you can do it with your money or time 🙂 and yes, that’s a cell phone, someone missed the “we are recording” light 😉
I know it’s difficult, there never seems to be enough time to cook, but if you limit yourself to one meal out a week, you’ll find that you have extra money at the end of the week.
Take one thing in your day to day activities and change it up. It doesn’t have to be something big, you can even just change how you drive in to work, just mix up your routine a bit.
I know, I know, you hear it everywhere. But, it’s true. I have huge white coat’s syndrome, hate going to the doctor, but even I am going because I know if there is something wrong, it’s best to get it fixed now rather than later. So get your annual checkup.
Hey ya’ll, so I am always looking for organic, healthy food options, at prices that don’t break the bank. Fortunately for me, I have a Lucky’s Market nearby, but it’s still a bit farther of a drive than I’d prefer, especially for something like groceries which, sadly, have to be shopped for around once a week, especially for fresh items like fruits and veggies. So, when it was announced that we were going to have an Earth Fare closer, I was super excited about it and decided to try it out. Well, unfortunately, I was rather disappointed with what I found.
The announcements for this chain were huge, and they were advertising amazing sales and prices, and all of the fun stuff that comes with a new store opening. Unfortunately, it ultimately fell flat from expectations. Like a good shopper, I looked online at the ads first, to get an idea of what I was shopping for, though I intended on browsing the whole store, and there was a lot that was left to be desired in the store, that was advertised online.
- Prices. First off, the prices just weren’t that great at Earth Fare. Sure, they had some sale items, but most of it was full-priced, and some of it was even more expensive than Lucky’s, for the exact same item! Sorry, but being a little closer doesn’t make it worth spending a couple of bucks more. Lucky’s wins this round.
- Expired food. Alright, so it’s a brand new store, so you expect a few things: cleanliness, lots of employees to help, and all fresh items. Which is why I was shocked when the yogurt I was looking at had expired back in December of 2018. Yup, right there on the container. And yes, I checked, it wasn’t just one, there were several. It took me a couple of minutes to track down an employee, and when I informed him of the situation, he pulled the products, but also acted like I was being super dramatic about it. Sorry, no, you could cause people to get sick, and part of your job is to ensure that anything expired has been pulled. You’d think that would have been it, but then when I was looking at the ice cream selection, I found the same issue. Expired, but this time back in November of 2018! Come on guys, this is just ridiculous, you are brand new, there is literally no excuse for this. Lucky’s, you win again.
- Selection. This is where Earth Fare finally redeemed itself, the selection of specialty items was much better here than at Lucky’s, at least as far as last time I was there.
- Meats. Lucky’s takes another win with much better prices and better looking meats. Sure, Earth Fare had some that looked good, but others looked discolored, which is concerning when it comes to purchasing meat. I’ve never had that issue with Lucky’s and have always gotten delicious meats there, and at low prices.
Overall, and I write this with total disappointment, Earth Fare just did not meet expectations. It was fairly busy, which is completely understandable, but that does not excuse some of the other larger issues (ahem, expired products) that were in the store. So, while it may be a bit of a farther drive, it seems that Lucky’s Market will continue to get my business over Earth Fare.
Morning everyone! I just made this super simple strawberry muffins recipe this morning for breakfast, and it is delicious. The only tweak I made was using Almond Milk instead of regular milk, but otherwise it’s the same, and it is a delicious treat for a morning snack.
Here’s the information below:
Perfect Strawberry Muffins Recipe
These light and airy strawberry muffins are very simple to make. We love adding a light spice to the batter with cinnamon and finely ground black pepper. The black pepper is a little unusual, but by adding just a small amount it lifts all the flavors in the muffins. Feel free to leave it out, but we highly recommend it.
YOU WILL NEED
MUFFINS1 1/2 cups (195 grams) all-purpose flour, we use Gold Medal
3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon finely ground black pepper
1/3 cup (80 ml) vegetable oil
1 large egg
1/3 to 1/2 cup (80 ml – 120 ml) milk, reduced fat or whole milk are best
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
6 ounces strawberries, hulled and diced (about 1 cup diced)
TOPPING1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Heat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line 12 standard-size muffin cups with paper liners.
Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and the black pepper in a large bowl until well mixed.
Using a measuring jug that holds at least 1 cup, measure out the vegetable oil. Add the egg then fill the jug to the 1-cup line with milk (this should be 1/3 to a 1/2 cup of milk). Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and whisk until blended. Pour into the bowl with flour and stir with a fork until just combined. Do not over mix. (The muffin batter will be quite thick — see note below for more details). Stir in the strawberries.
- MAKE TOPPING
In a small bowl, stir 1 tablespoon of sugar with a 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla then set aside.
- TO FINISH
Divide batter between the 12 muffin cups. (The batter will come close to the tops of the paper liners). Lightly sprinkle vanilla sugar topping over muffins.
Bake muffins until tops are golden brown, no longer wet and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out with crumbs, not wet batter; 15 to 20 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
Deciding what to wear each day can be really difficult, and time-consuming, so save yourself some time in the morning, and plan your outfit for the next day. You’ll be able to get all the accessories together, without feeling rushed or being late to work.
It’s so simple to get a good workout in, especially if you find a hobby that’s a workout. I personally love ice skating and line dancing, and they’re not only super fun for me to go out with friends, but they also are a great workout.
Drop off food at a shelter to help someone in need over the weekend. You never know what good things can come from a small act of kindness.
